Rome, Indiana - Herman L. Kellems, Jr., 73, passed away on February 29, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 8, 1942, on Millstone. Preceding him in death were his parents, Herman, Sr. and Frances Kellems and Fritz and Esther Holpp and brother, Kenny Kellems and sister, Linda Kellems. . A 1960 graduate of Cannelton High School, he married Mary Jane Jones on November 9, 1961 in Fort Wayne. Herman had worked for several years as a meat cutter for Collier's Red & White, formerly in Tell City. He retired as supervisor from Corn Island Shipyard. A member of Hawesville Church of Christ, Herman enjoyed target shooting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Lauren. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Kellems; daughter, Diana Jane "Janie" Jackson (Tim), Lewisport, Kentucky; son, Michael Lee Kellems, Rome; sister, Diana Jones (Ike), Millstone and brother, Gary Kellems (Mary Ann), Tell City; grandchildren, Lauren, Codie and Hannah and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will be in Millstone Cemetery. Ministers George Jensen and Paul Vaughn will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Hawesville Church of Christ.
