St. Croix, Indiana - Henry Otto Faulkenberg, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015, in Ferdinand, Indiana. He was born in St. Croix, Indiana on December 13, 1924. His parents were the late Marshal and Rosalia (Georges) Faulkenberg. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Ida Mae, his siblings, Martin Faulkenberg, Marie Pucel (John), Elmer Faulkenberg, Lafe Faulkenberg (Mary), Leonard Faulkenberg (Gilda) and grandchildren Lindsey Spence and Brennan Faulkenberg. Henry was united in marriage to Ida Mae LaGrange on August 20, 1949 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. They were married for 64 years. Henry was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He was selected to participate in a 2014 Indy Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., honoring World War II veterans. Henry was active in the church. He was a past member of Holy Cross Parish Council and served as an usher for many years. Henry enjoyed gardening, farming, and watching Cardinal baseball and IU basketball and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Henry retired from Maxon Marine after 42 years. He was a Republican precinct committeeman and served as delegate to the state convention for several decades. Surviving are his children, Barb Spence (Rod) of Carmel, Steve Faulkenberg (Katherine) of Brentwood, Tennessee, Dennis Faulkenberg (Jill) of Indianapolis, Jeff Faulkenberg (Pam) of Troy, Illinois, Kathy James (Tony) of Ferdinand, and Tina Goffinet (Steve) of Ferdinand; a sister, Rose Waninger of Tell City; twelve grandchildren, Kelli McNamara (Gavin), Ally Thompson, Mark Benton, Crystal Benton, Melissa Reeves (Jason), Ashley Povinelli (Derek), Jordan, Devan, and Dylan Faulkenberg, Tim James, Aubrey Welp (David), and Mackenzie James and five great grandchildren, Carter and Molly Reeves, Bentley and Taylor Povinelli, and Adalyn McNamara. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Sue Faulkenberg of Tell City and Geno Faulkenberg of Louisville, Kentucky. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. CST at Holy Cross Catholic Church, State Road 62, St. Croix, Indiana, with burial in the church cemetery. There will be military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #213, where Henry was a life member. Father Brian Esarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. CST on Monday, January 5th and 8:00 until 9:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, January 6th at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana.
