Helen Z. Schaefer, 99, passed away on April 27, 2024 at Oakwood Health Campus.

She was born in Fulda on February 2, 1925 to Martin and Edrina (Fetter) Zoglman.

Helen retired in 1987, after 41 years, from Tell City Chair Company. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1172 Auxiliary and V.F.W. Post #2939 Auxiliary.

Helen enjoyed playing cards, backyard cookouts, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, Larry Schaefer (Jackie), Bright, Indiana and Terry Schaefer (Jane), Tell City; brother-in-law, Denny Kessans, Tell City; grandchildren, Jeanna Shirkey (Mike), Logan Harth (Sara), Brittney Carter (Matt) and late granddaughter, Jillian Kirschbaum’s husband, Anthony; great grandchildren, Lydia, Abigayle, Haylee and Brayden Collinsworth, Aubrey and Kyleigh Harth, Jade and Brynn Carter and Ava and Noah Kirschbaum.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Linus A. Schaefer in 2004; a son in infancy; granddaughter, Jillian Kirschbaum and siblings, Maxine Kessans, Alice Mae Zoglman, Lester, Alvin, Renus and Richard Zoglman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Kolbe Wolniakowski will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00-11:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
