Helen Hess

Tell City, Indiana Helen P. Hess, 94, passed away on September 11, 2021 at Golden Living Center. She was born on July 14, 1927, daughter of the late Davis and Alva Mae (Owen) Freeman. Helen was a 1945 graduate of Tell City High School. She was a member of V.F.W. Post #2939 Ladies Axillary and former member of American Legion post #213 Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, sewing, making crafts, playing UNO and euchre, collecting clowns, her dog, "Doobie" and going to the Mexican Restaurant and having a margarita. Helen loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. They will fondly remember her as a good-hearted woman with good stories to tell, having cookies when they would visit and she always made them feel loved. Surviving are her children, Kathy Hess, Lora Ann Smith and Lisa Powers, all of Tell City; grandchildren, Matt Hudson (Jamie), Kelsi Beaver (John): Mark Hess, Megan West (Derek), Crystal Pruitt (Brad), Zach and Kyle Powers; 25 great grandchildren and six great -great grandchildren. Preceding her in death, other than her parents were her children, George Ann Franchville, Mary Helen Hudson and Mike Hess; grandchildren, Donnie Smith and Valerie Franchville and a brother, Harold Langdon. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
