Helen Dauby

July 1, 1922 — May 17, 2020

Tell City, Indiana Helen L. Dauby, 97, passed away May 17, 2020. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 1, 1922, daughter of the late Elmer L. and Mary C. (Anslinger) Fox. Helen was a 1941 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School. While living in Evansville, she worked at Universal Wholesale Furniture for 20 years. It was there she met her future husband, Curt Dauby. They were united in marriage on January 26, 1963, moving her to Tell City where she joined him in owning and operating, Curt Dauby, Inc. Sales and Service, formerly in Tell City. Located on the corner of 9th and Hwy 37, their motto was "located on the corner- business on the square!" Helen was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed gardening with Curt and was a very gifted seamstress. Helen often made her own clothes, including her wedding dress, as finding clothes to fit her stature was difficult. She will always be remembered as the epitome of a "lady". Surviving is her nephew, Tim Bettag, Cannelton and friends who helped care for her, Leonard Goffinet, Ida Holtzman and Karen and Lawrence Kelly, all of Tell City. Preceding her in death, other than her parents and husband were her sister, Bettye Bettag and brother, Leo F. Fox. Due to mandates concerning Covid-19, services will be private with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Rev. Luke Waugh will officiate. Huber Funeral Home, Tell City are handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
