Doolittle Mills, Indiana Harold Edward Lynch, 88, passed away on Monday, March 21 2022 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Doolittle Mills, Indiana on September 28, 1933 to Russell and Gladys (Lamon) Lynch. Harold worked on the railroad in his early years, and later taught welding at the Branchville Job Corps. He was instrumental in building the first track at Perry Central School along with his Job Corps crew. He later retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 26 years of service. He also served his community as Perry County Surveyor for 20 years from 1988-2008. Harold loved the Lord and was baptized in July of 1944. He was an active, lifelong member of the Bethel Christian Church in Doolittle Mills, where he served as an Elder. He was also a member of the Emmaus Community, Branchville Masonic Lodge #496, the Order of the Eastern Star # 590, Birdseye, and the Evansville York Rite. He loved people and enjoyed sharing his "Ole Homeplace" with everyone. Harold dearly loved music and playing his guitar. He sang with his family and friends at church events, community activities, and area nursing homes before suffering a major stroke in 2006. Surviving are his companion and caregiver, Mary Hill; two daughters, Brenda (Dan) Madden and Sheila (Jake) Borden; one son, David (Michelle) Lynch; six grandsons, Sherman Madden, J.D. and Charles Lynch, Jr., Teddy Lamon, Dylan and Shayne Lynch; six granddaughters, Tammy Weyer, Harvest Rudolph, Samantha Lamon, Mallory, Lily and Rilynn Lynch and one step-granddaughter, Renae Holzbog; nine great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way; sister, Shirley Mitchell, Eckerty; brother, Joe Lynch, Taswell and Mary's children, Darlene Walker, Peggy Eckert, Joe Hill and their families. Harold was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Rosie Mae (Kellams) Lynch, who was the mother of his four children; son, Charles E. Lynch; grandchildren, Drew Lynch, Lois Lynch and Misty Lynch; brother, Victor Lynch; three sisters, Wilma Buse, Marjorie Underhill and Norma Lee Walker; son-in-law, Teddy Lamon and his step-mother, Mabel Lynch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Bethel Christian Church, Doolittle Mills. Brother Al Madden and Brother Henry Schwartz will officiate. Burial will follow in Doolittle Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-7:00 PM with a Masonic service at 6:30 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and Thursday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Christian Church or Doolittle Mills Cemetery.
