Irene was born in Rome, Indiana on January 14, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Blanche (Thomas) Allen. She was united in marriage to Wilbur H. Perkins in Kentucky in 1937. The couple traveled around before settling in the Detroit area. Irene was a very strong willed person and a real go-getter who always took on challenges to help others over obstacles. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards especially gin rummy. In her younger years she also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Irene will be deeply missed by the many who had known and loved her. Irene is survived by her loving children, Roberta (Dennis) Zaremba, Frank (Sydney Sivers) Perkins and Michael (Sue Anne) Perkins; grandchildren, Dale R. Bush, Debra (Jim) Strahan, Brian W. (Julie) and Lisa (Richard Perez) Bush, David (Ruthe) Bandlow, Laurie (Wayne) Wilson, Michael (Michele) and Frank (Amy Beck) Perkins. Many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilbur H. Perkins in 1990, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held at the Rome United Methodist Church, Rome, Indiana on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 10am till time of services at 12noon with the Rev. Paul Alvey, officiating. Burial will follow in Lamb Cemetery, Rome, Indiana. Luncheon will be held at 1pm in the Rome High School building.
