Cannelton, Indiana Gloria Marie Shephard, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 25, 2020 surrounded by loved ones, after a lengthy illness. She was born November 22, 1931 in Clewiston, Florida, the daughter of the late James Henry and Dorothy (Dowell) Ramsey. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Jerry in infancy, Jimmy, Kenneth and David Ramsey and a sister, Henriella Bynon. Gloria grew up in Millstone, Indiana, on her beloved family farm, a connection that continued throughout her life. She graduated in 1950 from Cannelton High School and was married on December 16, 1951 to Maurice Shephard, who survives. Gloria worked at Kroger for over 20 years, retiring in 1987, but her most important job was being a loving wife, beloved mother and a homemaker. Gloria loved flowers, sewing and walking in the woods. Her greatest passion in life was her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Gloria was saved as a young mother, later joining the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church, where she was baptized and continued as a faithful member for over 50 years. Gloria is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Maurice Shephard, Cannelton; children, Marsha Troutman (Jerry), Greenville, KY, Terry Shephard (Dorothy), Hawesville, KY, Cheryl Farmer (Jermie), Tell City and Lynnette Gaynor (Tim), Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Seth Troutman (Jerriann), Jared Troutman, Jordan Farmer, Micah Farmer (Seleena), Zach Gaynor, Ethan Gaynor (Hannah), Devin Dillard (Charlie), Kenny Shulaw, Melissa Weinberger (Mark) and Jeremy Shulaw (Amanda); 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Zellers (Bill), Cannelton and a brother, Guy Neil Ramsey, Tell City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 CDT on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Freewill Baptist Church in Cannelton. Brother Daniel Reeves and Brother Steve Epley will officiate. Burial will follow in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the church and Thursday from 9:00 until service time at 11:00 AM .
