Tell City, Indiana Glenward ""Duke"" Poehlein, 73, of Tell City, passed away at 4:25 PM Friday May 27, 2005 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Glenward was born near Cannelton on September 27, 1931, son of the late Charles Poehlein and Edith Phelps Poehlein. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Poehlein in infancy and four brothers, Chuck, Aukie, Justin and Gordon Poehlein. He was united in marriage in Cannelton on February 9, 1951 to the former Wanda Nugent who survives. Duke retired in 1994 from Tell City Chair Company where he had been employed for thirty-seven years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tell City. Duke was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. He enjoyed spending time with his closest companion, his dog, Buffy. Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years, the former Wanda Nugent One son, Mike Poehlein and his wife Alisa of Tell City, Indiana One daughter, Valerie Howe and her husband, Terry of Evansville, Indiana One sister, Pat Kahler of Tell City, Indiana Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday May 31, 2005 at Huber Funeral Home-Tell City Chapel with burial in Greenwood Cemetery at Tell City. Rev. Lee Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home-Tell City Chapel.
