Gladys Baur

Tell City, Indiana Gladys F. Baur, 88, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Golden Living Center Lincoln Hills. She was born in Troy, December 14, 1925 daughter of the late Frank and Sophia (Simon) Kuntz. Also preceding her in death was her husband Ralph S. "Poodie" Baur in 2012, son, Ralph Baur, Jr., sisters, Frances Kuntz, Irmina Davis, Polly Fischer, Helen Mattingly, and Anna Johnson, a brother, Robert Kuntz and a son-in-law, Jim Smith. Gladys attended St. Pius Elementary School and St. Pius Catholic Church . During her school days, she and her sister Irmina rang the bells at St. Pius Church for church services. She worked for General Electric for 30 years, enjoyed reading and gardening, especially taking care of her roses. She is survived by her children; Gary Baur (Yvonne), Tell City; daughters, Sandra Smith, of Troy, Paula Jo LeClere (Charles), Tell City and Gladys Ann Couey (Rick), Atlantic City, Wyoming; a brother, Jim Kuntz, TN; six grandchildren, Westley Smith, Julie Caracappa, Greg and Geoff Baur, Emily Micena and Christine Shelton; ten great grandchildren, Sean Smith, Michelle Smith, Sophie, Adeline ,Cassidy and Ceira Baur, Anthony Tucker, James Brett Thompson, Jr., Cody Bauer, and Shelby Huff; four great great grandchildren, Payton Thompson, Alyvia Thompson, Arieonna Thompson and Abbigail Kinser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 25, 2014 at St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Sengole Thomas G. will officiate. Visitation is from 2:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius Catholic Church.
