Cannelton, Indiana - Gilbert "Leroy" Skeen, 72, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, surrounded by his family at his home in Cannelton. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 29, 1942. His parents were the late Oliver and Shirley (Wright) Skeen. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Roger Douglas Skeen. Leroy was united in marriage, on August 15, 1959, to Eva Mae Cunningham. He had been a heavy equipment operator for Union Local #181 until a stroke forced his retirement. Leroy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed tooling leather, shooting photography and watching NASCAR. Spending time with his family was what he valued most in his life. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Eva; daughters, Kim Biever (Kevin), Cannelton, Gala Leibering (Matt), Cannelton; son, Gil Skeen (Susie), Cannelton; grandchildren, David Biever (Ashley), Gary Biever, Brittany Taylor (Brad), Brandon Leibering (Illia), Bradley Leibering (Lacey), Brenee' Leibering, Chelsey Skeen, Jacob Skeen and Jackson Skeen; great grandchildren, Liam and Wyatt Biever, Aiden, Kaleb and Jett Taylor and Owen Leibering; sister, Faye Denton and brothers, Otto and Bobby Skeen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 until 10:30 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 PM in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonsville, Kentucky. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Holiday Helpers which help children in Perry County schools to have a brighter holiday season.
