Tell City, Indiana Gerald E. ""Smitty"" Smith, 75, of Tell City, died at 7:10 PM Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills in Tell City. Gerald was born in Tell City on August 22, 1931, son of the late Gerald Smith and Virginia Flannery Smith. He was united in marriage at St. Paul Catholic Church on June 27, 1957 to the former Lula Mae Henning, who passed away in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Smith. Smitty retired in 1993 as manager of Town Finance, later Pacesetter Finance. He had also been employed at Dauby Motor Company and Holland Dairy. He was a member of the American Legion Post #213 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939. Smitty was an outstanding football player for the Tell City Marksmen, then joined the United States Navy where he served in the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Gerald is survived by a son, Dave Bosley, Tell City, Indiana One daughter, Kathy Smith, St. Louis, MO One brother, Ron J. Smith, Darmstadt, Indiana Five grandchildren, Justin and Stephanie Bosley, Alex , Grace and Molly Smith Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, CST, at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana with burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tell City where the American Legion will conduct military graveside rites. Rev. Paul Alvey will officiate. Visitation is from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday and 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Sunday at Huber Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perry County Animal Shelter.
