Georgia Goffinet

Tell City, Indiana - Georgia ""Birtie"" Goffinet, 92, passed away on March 9, 2012, at Oakwood Health Campus. She was born in Perry County, Indiana, on December 11, 1919. Her parents were the late Oliver and Mary (Landers) Howell. Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Marie Labhart and Evelyn Simpson; brothers, Bethel, Ralph, Herman and Paul Howell and her husband, Herman Goffinet. ""Birtie"" attended Anderson Township Grade School and graduated from Tell City High School in 1939. She married Herman Goffinet on August 24, 1940 in Gatchel. A member of Lilly Dale Church of Christ, ""Birtie"" retired from General Electric after 30 years. She enjoyed fishing, making candy and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are her children, Brenda Reed (Mitch), Don Goffinet (Pam) and Kenny Goffinet; sisters, Muriel Pekinpaugh, Cecil Pekinpaugh and Vivian Dupont; brother, Bill Howell; grandchildren, Rachel, Bridget, Karey, Holly, Amanda, Jason, Nikki, Aaron and Jennifer and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 12, 2012, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis, Alzheimer's or American Cancer Society.
