George Stowe, Jr.

Tell City, Indiana - George L. Stowe, Jr., 71, passed away on February 4, 2021. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 15, 1949. George was a 1967 graduate of Cannelton High School and was a United States Navy veteran, having served on the USS Midway during the Vietnam era. He was a meat cutter at Kroger, formerly in Tell City and at age 62, retired from Aleris. George was united in marriage on July 1, 2006 to Cheryl Huff. Although married later in life, she referred to their marriage as having quality years, just not the quantity that they had hoped for. He attended Branchville United Methodist Church and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2939, Harry G. Myers American Legion Post #142 and USWA Local 9443. George enjoyed watching T.V., Alabama football, IU basketball and riding motorcycles. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he enjoyed attending their school activities and sports. Surviving is the love of his life, his wife of 15 years, Cheryl Stowe, Tell City; his children, Kristy Holland (Jamie), Newburgh, Neil Stowe (Andrea), Newburgh, Adam Stowe (Amber), Tell City, Josh Harris (Dana), Leopold and Nick Harris, Tell City; grandchildren, Kylie and Katelyn Holland, Lydia, Meredith and Jillien Stowe, Brayden and Emma Stowe, Wyatt and Scarlett Harris and a sister, Terri Miller, Newburgh. He was preceded in death by his parents, George L. Stowe, Sr. and Esther (Goffinet) Noble. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Pastor Josh Harris will officiate. There will be military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00-6:00 PM and Sunday 11:00AM-1:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Branchville United Methodist Church or Perry Central Baseball. While visiting the funeral home or cemetery please wear a mask and the family appreciates social distancing.
