Gary Ransom

St. Croix, Indiana Gary L. Ransom, 80, passed away August 19, 2018 at Wedgewood Health Care in Clarksville, Indiana. He was born in Branchville, Indiana to the late Shelbie and Iola (Saddler) Ransom. A graduate of Oil Township, Gary was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving for over 20 years. Throughout his Air Force career Gary was a medical tech and then enjoyed a 20 plus year career as a carpenter for the Civil Service. He received the Man of the Year award on two separate occasions, one while serving in Galena, Alaska and the other for his service while stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. Gary was united in marriage on August 12, 1976 to the former Artie Parish. He was a member of American Legion Post #32 in San Angelo, Texas and attended Eastside Christian Church in Jeffersonville. Gary enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball and IU basketball. He loved to spend time with his family, especially camping and chili cook offs, being outdoors and traveling. Surviving is his wife, Artie Ransom, Jeffersonville; children, Dale Ransom (Patricia), Norton, MA, Steven Ransom (Eduardo Febles), Jamaica Plain, MA, Cindy Curry (Roger), Marengo, IN, Denis Parish (Vera), Austin, TX, Lynda Parish, Corydon, IN and Bryan Parish (Minda), Wabash, IN; sisters, Roberta Gibson, St. Croix, Lynda Gibson (Dick), Branchville; brothers, Kenny Ransom (Debbie), Bedford and Edd Ransom (Sue), Louisville, KY; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST Friday, August 24, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Kenny Ransom will officiate. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Friday 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
