Gary Humphrey

Gary L. Humphrey, 70, passed away June 21, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born June 5, 1948 in Tell City, son of the late Roy and Elsie (Litherland) Humphrey. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Eugene Humphrey and Leroy Humphrey in infancy, and sister, Reva Burden. A U.S. Army veteran, Gary was united in marriage on January 21, 1969 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Dorothy Christie who survives. He worked in the coal mining business for over 30 years working in all areas of the mine. Gary enjoyed tinkering and working on vehicles, being outside and spending time with grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Humphrey, Cannelton; daughter, April Santiago (Carlos), Chicago; son, Daniel Humphrey (Tiffany), Tell City; sisters, Maxine Nelson and Marilyn Brock (Arlie), both of Tell City; four grandchildren, Chandler Humphrey, Alexia and Jasmine Gallagher and Nicole Humphrey. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted. Bro. Harold Nix will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Friday and from 9:00 until 10:00 AM on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
