Gary Brown

Tell City, Indiana Gary W. "Sugar Bear" Brown, 72 passed away, September 26, 2019. He was born in Gatchel, Indiana on March 21, 1947 to the late Elmer and Virginia Ruth (Scheler) Brown. Also preceding him in death was his companion, Dessa Keown; a sister in infancy, Patricia Gayle Brown and a brother, Tom Brown. Gary was a 1965 graduate of Tell City High School, later serving in the U.S. Army where he earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired in 2009 from Spencer Plastics in Dale, also working at Maxine Marine for over 25 years and had been a crane operator for Malone Brothers. Gary was a member of the VFW Post 2938, American Legion Post 213, 40&8 Voiture 952 and was a Lifetime member of DAV. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Surviving is his son, Kenneth W. Brown and his wife Velma, Loxahatchee, Florida; sister, Sue Rogier; brothers, Virgil, Roger, Danny and Jay Brown; 3 grandchildren, Aaron and Kyle Brown and Bridget Hale and 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Luke and Mattie Gibson and Karson Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CDT Friday, October 4, 2019 at Huber Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery where there will be military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #2939. Pastor Harry McDonald will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday and 9:00 AM until service time on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post #2939.
