Frederick Hawkins

Tell City, Indiana Frederick C. Hawkins, 59, of Tell City, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Fred was born in Perry County on July 22, 1948, son of the late James R. Hawkins and Dolores Brinksneader Hawkins. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Scott Hawkins and Roger Brinksneader. Fred was united in marriage in Meridian, Mississippi on November 21, 1972 to the former Carolyn J. Harper who survives. Fred had been employed at Commonwealth Aluminum for thirty years until his recent retirement due to his illness. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the National Skeet Shooting Association, and the Evansville and Daviess County Gun Clubs. He enjoyed working on old cars and spending time with his family. Fred was a 1967 graduate of Tell City High School, a United States Navy veteran, and was a member of the American Legion Post #213 and Deer Creek Baptist Church. Fred is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carolyn Harper Hawkins One son, Jason Hawkins, Tell City, Indiana One daughter, Jessica Kinney and her husband Shawn, Newburgh, Indiana One sister, Judy Kirk and her husband Gordon, Bloomington, Indiana Three brothers, Jim Hawkins and his wife Mary Jane, Tell City, Indiana Harry Hawkins and his wife Kim, Tell City, Indiana Randy Hawkins, Tell City, Indiana One grandson, Bryson Kinney Several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Deer Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Elmer Shelby will officiate. Burial is in the church cemetery where the American Legion Post #213 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 PM Monday and 9:00 - 10:30 AM Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deer Creek Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
