Franklin Simpson

Tell City, Indiana - Franklin T. "Frank" Simpson, 89, passed away February 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Tell City on December 31, 1924. His parents were the late William and Bertha (Jarboe) Simpson. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Dorothy (Webb) Simpson; brothers, Leo, Ralph, Paul and Owen Simpson and sisters, Catherine Mansfield and Agnes Elder. Frank was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1172 and enjoyed playing golf. He retired from Tell City National Bank in 1988 where he was senior vice president and trust officer. An experienced banker, he had spent his entire working career at Tell City National, joining the bank after serving his country in the United States Army. In 1959, he was made vice president and cashier and in 1961 was named vice president and trust officer. He had served as secretary to the board. A 1962 graduate of The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and a former member of the IBA Trust Committee, he had been active in professional and community organizations during his 30 years with TCNB. Frank was past president of Tell City Public Library, past treasurer of Knights of Columbus, National Trustee of Catholic Knights of America, was a member of American Legion Post #213 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939 and past member of Loyal Order of Moose, Hoosier Heights Country Club, Tell City Jaycees, past president of Tell City Kiwanis, and past president of Perry County Chamber of Commerce. In 1959, he received the Jaycees' Distinguished Service Award and in 1965, he received the Boss of the Year Award. Surviving are his daughters, Karen Daum, Maple Grove, Minnesota, Connie Grabert, Evanville, Indiana and Lisa Fowler, Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; a son, Tom Simpson, New Carlisle, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Brandon Daum, Gina Williams, Stephanie Simpson, Nathan Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Jessica Rawden, Lauren Grabert, Alexander Grabert, Cameron Fowler and Brooke Fowler; three great grandchildren, Olivia Williams, Stella Williams and Connor Daum. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 28, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Rev. Sengole Thomas G. will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Friday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City. There will be Knights of Columbus memorial service at 6:30 PM on Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
