Tell City, Indiana
Evelyn Weiss, 95, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2024, at her daughter's home, where she was surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born in Apalona on November 29, 1928, to Frank and Thelma (LaGrange) LeMaire.
A 1947 graduate of Oil Township High School, she soon married Earl Weiss on January 21, 1950. They shared 38 years together before his passing in 1988.
Evelyn was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she loved to volunteer. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, piecing quilts and babysat.
Evelyn was fondly known to her grandchildren as Grandma "Choo Choo", as she lived by the 6th street train tracks, and they looked forward to visiting her and seeing the train pass. You could find her at any one of their school or sporting events and even later, at her great-grandchildren’s activities. She was greatly present and involved in all their lives.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Gayle Litherland and husband, Joe; her dear sister, Millie Harth; grandchildren, Spicy Jennings (Corey), Lacy Litherland (Austin Dutchske), Whitney Keown (Tony) and Chase Litherland (Dawn) and great grandchildren, Trevor, Tanner and Talon Jennings, Greyson and Thompson Jones, Scarlett Litherland and Maddi Dutchske.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Earl Weiss; brothers, Dallas and Curtis LeMaire and sisters, Rosella LeMaire and Freida "Fritz" Taylor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 2:00-7:00 PM and 8:30-9:30AM on Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
