Evelyn (Taylor) Evrard Tell City, Indiana - Evelyn (Taylor) Evrard, 94, passed away on Sunday February 19, 2017 at the Brownsburg Meadows Rehabilitation Center, Brownsburg Indiana, where she was surrounded by her family. She was born in Bordulac, North Dakota on July 21, 1922. Her parents were the late William Jennings Bryan Taylor, and Frances M. (McAdams) Taylor. Also preceding Evelyn in death was her husband of 60 years, John H. Evrard who died January 14, 2011; her three brothers, Bob Taylor, Don Taylor, Ralph Taylor; sister in law, "Fritz" Taylor; brother in law, Carroll LaGrange. Evelyn was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1941. She loved socializing with friends and attending weekend dances where she met her future husband and love of her life, "Slim Evrard". She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 75 years. Evelyn enjoyed working in the office at Tell City Furniture Company and later at General Electric. She loved her Tell City / Troy community and neighbors, raising her family and supporting her ever energetic husband's farming and Perry County airport endeavors. She especially found great joy in spending time with her three loving grandsons; cheering them on in their sporting events, watching them swim, and just being together. She was continually surprised and overjoyed by their interest in including her in their activities. Surviving are her children, Leah Wilkins (Keith Wilkins), Mark Evrard (Jennifer DuPre), Annette Vassilo (Mark Vassilo); grandsons, Wesley, Kyle, and Cole Vassilo; sister Ruth (Taylor) LaGrange, and her sister in law Joy (Howe) Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at St. Mark Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th St, Tell City IN 47586. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
