Eugene Humphrey

Tell City, Indiana - Eugene Humphrey, 82, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011, at Golden Living Center Lincoln Hills. He was born in Tell City September 4, 1929, son of the late Roy and Elsie (Litherland) Humphrey. Also preceding him in death was his wife Hilda Humphrey in 2005, a grandson, Andrew Humphrey and a sister Reva Burden. A U.S. Army veteran, Eugene retired from Tell City Chair Company after 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, leather work and fishing. He is survived by sons, Steve Humphrey and David Humphrey, both of Cannelton and Donald Humphrey of Tell City, sisters, Maxine Nelson and Marilyn Brock, both of Tell City and brother, Gary Humphrey of Cannelton, 4 grandchildren, Melody Humphrey, Sara Brown, Kelly Schlachter and Mike Humphrey, and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites. Arlie Brock will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday and from 12:00 PM until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Jezzy Humphrey College Fund.
