Tell City, Indiana Ethel T. Smith, 76, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at the Hermitage Care & Rehabilitation Center, Owensboro, KY, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cannelton, IN on August 15, 1927, the daughter of the late George Christian and Mamie Susanna (Fulkerson) Thorn. She retired in 1987 from General Electric in Tell City where she had been employed for 41 years, having spent most of her career in the payroll department. She was raised a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Cannelton. A 1945 graduate of Cannelton High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Veterand of Foreign Wars Post # 2939 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by a stillborn son, Christopher Neal Connor, an infant brother, George Lee Thorn, and sisters, Hazel B. Thorn and Helen Hinton. Surviving are five children, Carol Connor Flowe (Jeff Cohen), Potomac, MD, Cathy Connor Story (Gary Grundhoefer), Owensboro, KY, Chuck Connor (Darla), Newburgh, IN, Marvin Craig Connor, Columbus, OH, Cindy Connor Wiseman (Darrell), Renton, WA; seven grandchildren: Ryan Story (Jenny), Chris Story (Lynn Shrewsbury), Ben Story, Chad Connor, Jon Connor, Samantha Flowe, and Andy Flowe; and a sister, Mary Jean Lutgring (Alfred), Indianapolis, IN. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Tuesday April 13, 2004 at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana with burial in Greenwood Cemetery at Tell City. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 AM to service time Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home-Tell City Chapel where there will be a Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Memorial Service at 7:30 PM Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society, 6302 Fox Head, San Antonio, Texas 78247, or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.
