Esther Harpenau

Tell City, Indiana - Esther M. Harpenau, 94, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. She was born in Spencer County on September 16, 1916. Her parents were the late August and Clara (Nielander) Boehm. Also preceding her in death were his sons, Robert L. and Harvey Harpenau; sister, Corina Hildenbrand; brothers, Karl, Edward and Sylvester Boehm and a grandson, Jason Harpenau and her husband of 58 years, Albert Harpenau in 1995. A homemaker, Esther was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed playing euchre, square dancing, gardening and quilting. Surviving are her sons, Gerald Harpenau (Juanita), Troy, Vernie Harpenau (Charlotte), Tell City and Stanley Harpenau (Brenda), Tell City; sisters, Marcella Lindauer, Jasper and Mary Ann Jochem, Ferdinand; brothers, Cletus Boehm, Jasper and Claude Boehm, St. Meinrad; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 8:30 until 9:30 on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City, Indiana. There will be a D of I and parish prayer service at 6:30 PM on Friday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
