Esther Claycomb

Rome, Indiana Esther Claycomb, 84, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. She was born in Tell City, March 23, 1931 daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Mercker) Klueh. Also preceding her in death was her son, Michael Williams, daughter, Darlene Lechner and sister, Mary Bolin. Esther was united in marriage July 29, 1955 to Carl Claycomb, who survives. She was raised in the New Boston area and after her marriage worked on their farm in Rome, helping with the hay, gardening and canning. A member of Cannelton United Methodist Church, she was active in her work with Walk to Emmaus program. She retired in 1996 from General Electric. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl Claycomb; sons, Jim "Doody" Claycomb (Nancy), Salvisa, Kentucky and Carl W. "Bud" Claycomb (Teri), Mountain Home, Idaho; brothers, Raphael Klueh (Wanda), Haubstadt, Indiana, Leon Klueh (Sandy), Tell City, Indiana, Kenny Klueh (Pat), Troy, Indiana; sisters, Charlotte Hubert, St. Croix, Indiana, Virginia Deller, Dale, Indiana and Kathy Vaught (Jerry), Cannelton, Indiana; 7 grandchildren, David Claycomb, Vicki Simons, Christy Jewell, Preston Lechner, Michael Williams, Sarg Williams, and Jamie Baker, 12 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in Rickert Cemetery near Rome, Indiana. Pastor Paul Alvey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Cannelton United Methodist Church.
