Tell City, Indiana- Elsie Marie Poehlein, 92, passed away on August 16, 2015, at Golden Living Center Lincoln Hills in Tell City, Indiana. She was born August 25, 1922, in Cannelton. Her parents were the late Elmer and Eva (Krausch) Sommer. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Owen Poehlein, in 1971; a daughter Brenda Lea Poehlein, in infancy; sisters, Dorothy Fulkerson, Julie Lovell, Ethel "Sis" Schoolcraft and brothers, Joe Sommer, Charles "Bud" Sommer and Tom Sommer. Elsie was a member of VFW Auxillary and enjoyed making quilts, playing bingo, euchre and scratch off lottery tickets and going to the boat. Surviving are her daughter, Charlotte (John) Malone, Tell City; son, Glenward "Bub" (Mary) Poehlein, Cannelton; brother, Carl (Mary Sue) Sommer; grandchildren, Denise (Kevin) Peter; Mendy Poehlein and Chad (Poehlein) Labhart; four great-grandchildren, Wade Stone, Lacey, Madelyn and Owen Peter; two step-grandchildren, Tracy (Brad) Harper and Dawn King; three step-great-grandchildren, Jeff Harper, Courtney Harper and Kayla King; and a step great-great grandchild, Kaydein Harper. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Council on Aging.
