Edith Matheny

Cannelton, Indiana Edith "Pete" Matheny, 82, passed away August 29, 2018 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in McLean County, Kentucky on December 17, 1935 to the late Bryan Cunningham and Fannie Ethel (Brashears) Groves. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Barbara Ann Matheny. "Pete" was united in marriage on January 29, 1955 to Walter Matheny. She had worked in housekeeping at the former Beverly Health Care. "Pete" was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, camping and listening to country music. She was particularly proud of and enjoyed her daughters' and niece's band, Sassy. "Pete" loved to listen and participate in karaoke, up until her health no longer allowed her. Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Walter Matheny, Cannelton; daughters, Penny Hardman (Larry), Santa Claus, and Angela Masterson (Randy), Tell City; a sister, Eva Mae Skeen, Cannelton; grandchildren, Tommy and Jared Hardman, Mariah Hildreth, Meredith Parks, Wesley and Lauren Cantner; great grandchildren, Cassie and Logan Hardman, Taylor and Presley Parks, Brock Hardman, Madilyn and Audrey Hildreth; one great-great grandchild, Jace Hardman. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM CST Saturday, September 1, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tell City. President Billy Bryant will officiate. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery in Madisonville, Kentucky. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel and Saturday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
