Tell City, Indiana - Eddie Champion, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born on April 26, 1932, in Indianapolis, son of the late Ed and Gertrude (Lauer) Champion. Eddie graduated in 1950 graduate from Cannelton High School. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He was a member of American Legion Post #213. Retiring in 1994, he worked as a lineman for Southern Indiana R.E.C. for twenty eight years. Eddie spent his spare time restoring classic cars and spending time with his family. Suriving him are his son, Ed Champion (Shana), Owensboro, Kentucky; step sons, Mark Stephens (Michelle), Tell City and Brian Stephens, Tell City; brothers, Donald Champion, Tell City and Paul Champion (Janice), Troy; step grandchildren, Amy, Tracy, Mason, Bryce and Chase and a step great grandson, Camden. Preceding him in death besides his parents was his wife, Beverly and a sister in law, Wako Champion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton where there will be military rites. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday and from 11:00 AM until service time on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #213.
