Tell City, Indiana - Earl W. Leistner, 92, formerly of New Boston, passed away on July 2, 2013, at the home of his daughter. He was born in New Boston on July 13, 1920. His parents were the late John and Anna (Foerster) Leistner. Also preceding him in death besides his parents were his sisters, Olivia Lambeck, Elsie Kleeman, Viola Fletcher, and Eleanor Sprague; brother Ervin Leistner and his son, Erwin Leistner. Earl was united in marriage to Olivia Hildebrand on August 29, 1942, in Mount Vernon, Indiana. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post #213 and St. John's Lutheran Church. Earl enjoyed gardening and caring for his lawn. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Olivia Leistner; daughter, June Peter (Pat), Tell City; daughter-in-law, Martha Leistner, Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Jon Leistner (Malissa), Champaign, IL and Dale Peter (Lori), Dale, Indiana; great grandchildren, Tyler, James, Jonathon, Christopher and Lain. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2013, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Evanston, where there will be military rites conducted by American Legion Post #213. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday. Rev. Michael Mueller will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
