Dorothy Leaf

January 22, 1925 — December 14, 2021

Tobinsport, Indiana Dorothy "Dot" Leaf-Polk, 96, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. The oldest of six siblings, she was born in Lewisport, Kentucky on January 22, 1925, daughter of Gus and Elizabeth "Betty" (White) Nugent. Dot was married to James Marion Polk for 48 years until his death in 1987. She later was united in marriage to Duane Leaf for 32 years, who precedes her in death in April of this year. Dot had worked at General Electric for 40 years, later working at Tell City Wal-Mart in lawn and garden and as a store greeter, retiring in 2013. She enjoyed socializing with people and sharing her thoughts on life, family and friends. Throughout her life Dot was faithful to God and had a passion for her church; attending Deer Creek Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church. Dot had the drive of a team of horses. She was devoted to her family and community, being a volunteer at SIRS. She enjoyed baking, sewing and the smaller beauties of life. She was witty and knew how to make a penny stretch for a mile. Dot is survived by her daughter Beverly Biever and husband, Mark; daughter-in-law, Judy Polk grandchildren, Ginger Richardson (Jeff), Mike Polk (Natalie), Todd Biever (Gina), Dusti Windell (Zach), Patrick Biever (fianc' Halie Anderson); great grandchildren, Morgan Schraner (Trent), Blake Polk, Macy and Carson Windell, Braxten and Brody Biever and Angus Machen, Zane and Trent Biever; a sister, Omia Linne and brother, David Nugent. Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Jim Polk; second husband, Duane Leaf; daughter, Pat Polk-Hamilton; son, Donnie Polk; and sisters, JoAnn in infancy, Idabell Hennessy, Carrie Mandell and Joyce Mitchell. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM CST on Saturday, December 18, 2021 Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Dan Hopkins will officiate. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or Deer Creek Baptist Church.
