Cannelton, Indiana - Dorothy J. Huff, 82, passed away on August 26, 2013, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. She was born in Cannelton on December 17, 1930. Her parents were the late James and Angie (Freeman) Young. Also preceding her in death was a stillborn daughter, Debra Jo and by a sister, Mary McDonald. Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Cannelton High School. She married Jessie Huff on October 23, 1948, in Cannelton. They were married for 62 years before he passed away on August 30, 2011. Dorothy retired from General Electric in 1989. A member of Deer Creek Baptist Church, Dorothy was a member of the church's choir and Christian Women's Organization. Although having a shy personality, she enjoyed church gatherings where she could share her love of cooking for others. She loved spending time with her grandchildren hosting many family and church dinners at her home. Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl Stowe (George) her family, Josh Harris, his wife, Dana, and children, Wyatt and Scarlett; Nick Harris and his wife, Kristen and daughter, Karen Gogel (Joe) and their family, Joey Gogel, his wife, Kristi and their children, Sydnee and Aiden; Jessica White, her husband, Clint and son, D.J. White. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Deer Creek Baptist Church with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until 10:30 on Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. Rev. Dr. Elmer Shelby and Dorothy's grandson, Josh Harris will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Deer Creek Baptist Church.
