Doris Harding

Tell City, Indiana Doris M. Harding, 85, passed away January 3, 2019 at her home. She was born in Ferdinand, Indiana, February 28, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Remke) Durcholz. Also preceding her in death was her husband Robert "Bob" Harding, Jr. Doris graduated high school from the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand in 1951 and graduated with an RN degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1954, where she then started working on the Third Annex. In 1956, she was promoted to head nurse on Six West when construction of the new St. Mary's Hospital was complete. Doris worked at the Tell City Clinic several years before starting her family. She then went back to Perry County Memorial Hospital and worked in ICU/CCU for six years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and selling Christmas trees for the family farm, Harding Christmas Tree Farm. Doris was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. She is survived by five children; Robert J. Harding (Pat), Tell City, Allen Harding, Owensboro, KY, Suzanne Buchanan, Mount Vernon, David "Otis" Harding, Tell City and Nancy Etienne (David), Leopold; sister, Florence Verkamp, Ferdinand; brother, Dennis Durcholz (Barbara), Ferdinand; five grandchildren, Marie Buchanan, Evansville, Michelle Schelhorn (John), Mount Vernon, Logan Harding, West Bloomfield, MI, Sarah Harding, Tell City and Alexandria Etienne, Leopold, and one great grandson, Kasen Schelhorn, Mount Vernon A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM CST Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate.Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Monday at church. Huber Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Catholic Church or FFA @ Perry Central School.
