Donna Fenn

October 13, 1949 — October 11, 2005

Donna was born in Evansville October 13, 1949, daughter of Christian Nix and Dorothy (Owens) Nix who survive. She was a 1967 graduate of Mater Dei High School and a 1971 graduate of the University of Evansville, where she later received a master's degree in education. Donna was united in marriage to Douglas M. Fenn, at University of Evansville's Neu Chapel on March 19, 1971. She began her teaching career at St. Philip Elementary School in Evansville. Donna then became a teacher for the Tell City-Troy Township School Corporation where she taught 1st and 2nd grade most of her twenty-nine years. She retired in May, 2005 as a Title One teacher at William Tell Elementary,where she was passionate about creating a nurturing environment for her students centered around her love of literature. Donna was past president of Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa and a member of its associate chapter, a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, and member of Indiana State Teachers Association, National Education Association and the International Reading Association. She was a founding member of the Perry County Community Foundation. Donna was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ where she was a past Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and an active volunteer with vacation bible school. Donna is survived by her husband of 34 years, Doug Fenn, a son, Christian Fenn and his fiancee, Summer Pigeon of Evansville, her parents, Chris and Dorothy Nix of Evansville, a sister, Barbara Liffick and her husband Dr. Thomas Liffick of Evansville, nieces, Dr. Emily Liffick and Meg Liffick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City, Indiana with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Lance Lackore will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday and 9:00 until 10:30 AM Friday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street in Tell City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donna Fenn Literacy Fund, P.O. Box 13, Tell City, Indiana 47586. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
