Donald V. Whitehead, 85, passed away September 15, 2015, at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born December 3, 1929, in Rome, Indiana, son of the late Rupert and Agnes (Hendershot) Whitehead. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Fred and Eric Whitehead. He was united in marriage to Wilma L. "Bobbie" Heck on July 1, 1961, at Tell City First United Methodist Church. Donald was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of Rome United Methodist Church and former fireman for the Rome Volunteer Fire Department. A lifelong Perry County farmer, he enjoyed arrowhead hunting and deer and turkey hunting. He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Bobbie Whitehead; daughter, Dona Whitehead, Louisville; son, Scott Whitehead (Angela), Rome; brothers, Robert (Betty) Whitehead, Friedel Whitehead and Leon Whitehead, all of Rome and grandchildren, Marie, Claire and Isaac. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM CDT Friday, September 18, 2015 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Pastor Ann Skiba will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday and from 9:00 until 11:00 AM Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Rome United Methodist Church.
