Donald Kratzer

Grandview, Indiana Donald Wayn Kratzer, 76, passed away May 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Spencer County, Indiana on October 13, 1944 to Elmer and Lucy Mae (Moore) Kratzer. Don was a 1962 graduate of Cannelton High School. He was a United States Army veteran with rank as SFC E-7, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Don was very proud to be an American and to serve his country. He retired from the Army after 23 years, where he had worked as a recruiter in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon leaving the Army he joined the Indiana National Guard, where he served as a recruiter for Tell City and Evansville. Don was united in marriage on November 11, 1967 to Donna Jo Woolard, renewing their vows in 2019. He enjoyed going to auctions, wood working and playing golf. Don was a member of American Legion Post #124 in Ferdinand. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Donna Jo Kratzer, Grandview; children, Joe Kratzer and Richard Kratzer, Tell City and Danielle Klein (Jonas), Germany; granddaughter Taylor Nicole Kratzer and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Marjorie Lawson, Juanita Veach, Carol Sue Terry, Billy, Albert and Kenny Kratzer. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastors Mark Phillips and Walter Phillips will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Newtonville. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
