Leopold, IN Donald "Donnie" Lee Gill, 54, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 in an ATV accident. He was born in New Albany, Indiana on January 8, 1963 to the late Ray and Delores (Kopp) Gill. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Paula East. Donnie was a 1981 graduate of Perry Central High School. He was united in marriage on March 5, 1982 to the former Sherry Hagman. Donnie was currently working at Best Home Furnishings for 22 years, where he was Plant Manager. Together with his wife, Donnie and Sherry are the owners of Gills Oil Creek Kennels where they train dogs for squirrel hunting. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, United Way, NSDA (National Sporting Dog Association), NRA and United Mountain Cur Association. Donnie loved to motorcycle ride with his wife and his Harley Davidson Fat Boy "Peaches". Donnie enjoyed the little things in life such as being with his friends and just having fun, spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs, attending St. Louis ballgames, squirrel hunting, and sitting in his garage and watching people drive by. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Gill, Leopold; daughter, Bridgett Hubert (Brandon), Leopold; son, Brandon Gill (Jayleigh), Hawesville, KY; three grandchildren, Kylie and Kaitlyn Hubert and Kennah Gill; two brothers, Jimmy Sturgeon of Greenville, IN and Gary Sturgeon of Bowie, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Father Brian Esarey will officiate. Burial will follow in Luxemburg Cemetery in Oriole. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Perry County United Way.
