Dennis Winter

Tell City, Indiana - Dennis R. Winter, 79, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home. He was born in St. Marks on December 21, 1942 to Lambert and Cornelia (Krieg) Winter. Dennis was a graduate of Tell City High School and served in the National Guard. He was united in marriage to Ula Ransom on July 1, 1967 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold. Dennis had worked construction for Malone Brothers and retired as a guard from Branchville Correctional Facility after 15 years. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, riding motorcycles and playing Texas Hold ‘Em. Dennis also looked forward to attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Ula Winter, Tell City; children, Stacey Sims, Newburgh and Darren Winter (Emily), Tell City; grandchildren, Zoie Sims, Kaden, Reece and Mason Winter; sisters, Wilma Masters, Whittaker, California and Lois Scott (Wayne) and sister-in-law, Mildred "Pidge" Winter. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Donovan "Don" Winter. The family would like to express their gratitude to Marsha Huck who helped care for Dennis and also to Heart to Heart Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM CST on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Jack Masterson will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. The family would appreciate family and friends wearing masks when visiting the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Church Cemetery.
