Darla D. Groves

Darla D. Groves, 89, passed away on February 29, 2024.

She was born on June 27, 1934 to Hugo and Beatrice (Schneider) Mullis.

Darla was a 1952 graduate of Tell City High School and was united in marriage on May 26, 1956 to Frank Groves, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Darla retired from General Electric where she had been employed for over 25 years.

Darla was a member of St. Paul and volunteered on the funeral luncheon committee. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella and the Red Hat Society’s “Perry Wrinkles”. Darla also worked at the polls during election time.

She enjoyed gospel and country music, playing Shang Hai and Yahtzee with friends, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, being outdoors, gardening, painting ceramics, making ceramic dolls and following Purdue athletics. Darla loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her siblings and their spouses.

Surviving are her children, Dean Groves (Melissa), Tell City, Scott Groves (Janet), Evansville and Julie Dantic (James), Richmond, KY; a brother, Dennis Mullis, Fulda; sister, Barbara Ross, Tell City; grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor (Bryan), Jacob Groves (Zoe), Molly Bonenberger (Zach), Benjamin Dantic and Ivy Atwell (T.J.); great grandchildren, Bryleigh Taylor, Lily Groves, Maisie Groves, Madelyn Bonenberger and another great grandchild due in August.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Frankie Groves.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial following in St. Mary Cemetery. Father Kolbe Wolniakowski will officiate.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 PM with a D of I service beginning at 6:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:30-9:30 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
