Cannelton, Indiana - Curtis G. "Curt" Vandgrift, 68, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Cloverport, Kentucky, on October 6, 1945. His parents were the late Burton and Bessie (Johnson) Vandgrift. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Earl Vandgrift. Curt served in the United States Army, during VietNam, was a life member of American Legion Post #213 and enjoyed flea markets, auctions, gardening and cooking. He was employed as a truck driver with Elmer Buchta Trucking. Surviving are his companion of 38 years, Lois Huff; daughter, Angela Norton, Irvington, Kentucky; sisters, Mildred Whitehead, Evansville, Juanita Umphries, Terre Haute, Hazel Finley, Terre Haute, Linda Bryant, Rome, Judy Patterson, Cloverport, Kentucky, Arlene Miles, Tell City and Barbara Zoerner, Capital Heights, Maryland; brothers, John Vandgrift, Derby and Herman Vandgrift, Waldo, Florida; granddaughter, Angel Burnett; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Madalynn and Ethan Burnett; step children, Arlene Whitten, Troy and Stormy Huff, Tell City; step grandchildren, Carla Mahr, John Whitten, Duston Huff and Michael Ethan Huff and seven step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery where there will be military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Bro. Arlie Brock is officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
