Tell City, Indiana - Curtis G. Cardinal, 94, of Tell City, passed away March 31, 2016 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. Curt was born in Monroe City, Indiana on January 29, 1922, son of the late Curtis C. Cardinal and Chlora E. Booker Cardinal. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Stanley Cardinal. Curt was a graduate of Monroe City High School and attended Purdue University. He left Purdue to join the United States Army, later the Army Air Corp. He was a second lieutenant in WWII, serving as a B-24 bomber pilot in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was united in marriage on August 10, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Melba Doral Like, who preceded in death in 2005. Curt retired in 1998 after a lifelong career of construction and engineering. He was a former member of the Tell City Chapter of Barbershoppers and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #213. He is survived by his son, Brent Cardinal (Mary K.); grandchildren Jeremy Cardinal (Sarah), and Jennifer Foster (John), great grandchildren, Anna, Wyatt, Jack and Samuel Cardinal, Grace and Claudia Foster. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Monroe City, Indiana. Visitation is from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cardinal/Smith/ Etienne Fund with the Perry County Community Foundation.
