Clifford Gunn

Tell City, Indiana - Clifford E. Gunn, 93, passed away on February 4, 2014 at Signature Healthcare in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on August 1, 1920, in Dodd, Indiana. His parents were the late Wyatt C. and Barbara A. (Neyenhaus) Gunn. Also preceding him in death was his first wife of 43 years, Ruth E. (May) Gunn in 1987, his second wife, Betty Bender Gunn, in 2008 and his brothers, Floyd and Ray Gunn. A 1939 graduate of Cannelton High School, Cliff was a World War II United States Navy veteran. He retired in 1984 from Tell City Chair Company where he had been employed for over thirty years. He enjoyed singing, woodworking and traveling and was a member of Lilly Dale Church of Christ in Gatchel. He was proud to have made The Walk to Emmaus. Cliff had been a past president of Cannelton Board of Education, Tell City Barbershopper Chapter, Ohio Valley Forest Products Research Society and Lincoln Hills Community Chorus. He was a past member of The Canneltones and The Grandfathers Four barbershop quartets, Perry County Museum and Cannelton Historical Society. Surviving are his three sons, Robert W. "Bob" (Joan) Gunn, Effingham, IL, C. Paul Gunn (Jan), Evansville, Indiana and Jon M. Gunn (Julie), Santa Claus, Indiana; grandchildren Melissa Harper, Pamela Seaman, Jennifer Claycomb, Kelly Wagoner, Abby Kamuf and Kris Gunn and great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ruth M. Gunn, Cannelton, Indiana; step sons, Larry Bender (Myra) and Gene Bender (Linda); step grandchildren and his companion of five years, Lois Hartman, Tell City, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2014, at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton, Indiana. There will be military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday. Bro. Eddie Olberding will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Church of Christ.
