Tell City, Indiana Cletus W. Voges, 90, passed away November 3, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Indiana. He was born in Bristow, Indiana on November 9, 1927 to the late Walter and Maggie (Harbaville) Voges. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Ivan Voges and a sister, Pearl Schaefer. Clete was a decorated Korean War Army veteran, serving as Combat Engineer. He was united in marriage on November 21, 1953 to the former Hazel Ward. Clete had worked as a carpenter for Voges Construction and later becoming a Union Carpenter. He served from 1975 through 1983 as Perry County Sheriff and prior to retiring worked at Branchville Correction Facility. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus #1172, V.F.W. Post 2939, American Legion Post 213 and was a life member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association. Clete was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Hazel Voges, Tell City; children, Debra Lawrence, West Chester, Ohio, Dennis Voges, Chicago, Illinois and Bruce Voges, St. Meinrad, IN; grandchildren, Jason Jackson and Jordyn Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CST Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #213 and VFW Post #2939. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM, where there will be a Knights of Columbus memorial service at 6:00 PM and from 9:00 until 10:30 AM on Wednesday at the Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
