Tell City, Indiana - Cletus C. James, 90, passed away on August 1, 2022 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Gatchel on August 1, 1932 to William Arnold and Mabel (Curl) James. After attending Tell City High School, he served his country in the U. S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post #213. One of his most fond memories was participating in the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana in October 2017, to Washington, D.C. Cletus married Daisy Harper on August 8, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Derby. He worked for Phil Etienne Timber Harvest for 25 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed computer games, yard work, wood working, word puzzles and time spent with his family. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Daisy James; children, Mary Beertzer, Tell City, Roger James, Cannelton, Donald James, Tell City, Kathy Clayton, Tell City, Lana Howe (Denny), Tell City, Sheila Leisman (Randy), Ferdinand, Kevin James, Cannelton and Doyle James (Karen), Hawesville, KY; siblings, Charles James (Gloria), Troy, Larry James, Cannelton, Julius James, Tell City, Delbert James, Tell City, Janice James, Tell City and Donald James, Cannelton; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Thomas, Eugene and Jerry James; sisters, Mary Button and Sharon James; grandchildren, Jeremy James and Kyle James and great granddaughter, Kristen White. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Derby with military rites. Rev. Brian Esarey will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery in Derby.
