Claris Goffinet

Mount Pleasant, Indiana - Claris L. Goffinet, 94, passed away on June 9, 2023, at Harrison Healthcare in Corydon. She was born on March 2, 1929, daughter of Victor and Myrtle (Sprinkle) James. She graduated from Oil Township High School and married Ferdinand Goffinet on April 27, 1948. They were married for 60 years. A homemaker, Claris was a devoted member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was known for her generosity in bringing flowers to church that she cut from her many gardens. She is survived by children, Donald Goffinet (Patty), Susie Ridener (Larry, deceased), Pat Howell (Ray), Rosa Hutchins (Wayne), Charlie Goffinet (Diana), Gerald Goffinet (Debbie), Emma Hoffman (Donald), Theresa Bennett-Lynch (Bradley) and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She also had many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Tony Goffinet and Michael Goffinet and siblings, Raphael, J. Ivan, Everett and Stella James, Pearl Etienne (Leonard), Betty Wood (Bill), and Lawrence James (Margaret). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CDT on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, in Leopold, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Cemetery.
