Branchville, Indiana Christian E. "Chris" Seitz, 80, passed away February 13, 2019. He was born July 4, 1938 in Dubois County, Indiana, son of the late Christian A. and Emilie (Mook) Seitz. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Walter Seitz; a sister, Martha Seitz in infancy; half-brothers, Linus and Herbert Seitz and half-sisters, Lovella Davis and Harrietta Neukam. Chris was a 1956 graduate of Dubois High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Evansville and later received a Master's Degree in music education from Indiana University. He was united in marriage to Mary Avis Irvin June 19, 1960. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the American Legion Post #213. He retired from Perry Central School Cooperation in 1993, after 30 years of teaching music and serving as band director. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was an organist for over fifty years. Chris had a love of music that started early in age, playing organ and piano at eleven years old. He participated and sang in Madrigal Dinners and was organist for many weddings and funerals. Chris was a director of Perry County Community Chorus, member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the Muzzle Loader Club and former member of the Gideons. He enjoyed gardening, attending shooting matches, square dancing and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Avis Seitz; daughters, Jennifer Horn (Andy), Rochester, New York and Sharon Greene (Mike), Pine Village, Indiana; son, John Seitz (Tracey), Safety Harbor, Florida; three grandchildren, Charlie, Will and Thomas Horn and a brother, Edward Seitz, Freeland, Michigan. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM CST Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Haysville, Indiana. Pastor Daniel Gadbaw will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Friday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel and from 9:30-10:30 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
