Tell City, Indiana Chester W. Doogs, 93, passed away November 2, 2017 at his home. He was born in Ranger, Indiana on January 30, 1924 to the late Leslie and Julia (LeMaire) Doogs. Also preceding him in death was his son-in-law, Mark "Flash" Kleeman; grandchildren, Jade Kleeman, Bryce Doogs and Eve Doogs; and a sister, Cornelia Ziegelgruber. Chester was a graduate of Oil Township High School. He was a World War II Army Veteran, earning four Bronze Stars for his service. On May 5, 1953 Chester was united in marriage to the former Anna Dauby, who survives. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #1172, American Legion Post #213 and V.F.W. Post #2939. Chester retired from Perry Spencer Rural Telephone Company in 1986 after working there for 31 years. He was a former councilman for Perry County and enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, watching western movies, hunting, fishing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Surviving is his wife, Anna Doogs, Tell City; children, Stephen Doogs (Roxy), Elizabethtown, KY, Dennis Doogs, Branchville, Angie Kleeman, Troy, Julie Dauby (Gerald), Tell City and Scott Doogs, Tell City; a brother, Merle Doogs, Tell City; nine grandchildren, Chad and Andrea Doogs, Natalie Downey, Brandon Kleeman, Angel Rogier, Patrick Dauby, Paige Peter, Logan Dauby and Noel Doogs; eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. CST on Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joe's Cemetery with military rites. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00-6:00 P.M. with a K of C service at 5:00 P.M. and Monday 8:30-9:15 A.M. at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
