St. Meinrad, Indiana - Charles E. "Charlie" Highfill, 60, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born on March 23, 1956, in Tell City. His parents were the late Eugene and Mary Alice (Hockenberry) Highfill. Also preceding him in death was his son, Jody Hockenberry; brothers, his twin in infancy and Steve "Flywheel" Highfill; great-nephew, Travis Cronin and great-niece, Autumn. Charlie was married on November 30, 1991, to the former Millie Wiederkehr. He had worked at Jasper Wood Products until disability forced his retirement. He had been in the Indiana National Guard. Charlie enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, mowing grass, making visits to Derby, playing euchre, spending time with his grandchildren and great- nieces and nephews, and his dog, Boogie. Surviving is his wife, Millie Highfill, St. Meinrad; daughter, Amy Aders (Tracy), Adyeville; a sister, Debbie Cash (Eugene), Tell City; a brother, Michael Highfill, Tell City; grandchildren, Jacob Vinson, Morgan Hessig, Josh, Kyle, Colton, Ashtin and Marisa Aders; great-grandchildren, Grace, Gabe, Bryson and Addi and his dog, Boogie. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Badger Cemetery in Derby. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday. Pastor Arlie Brock will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
