Charley Greene

Charley J. "Jim" Greene, 84, passed away September 26, 2018 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born March 21, 1934 in Maxton, North Carolina to the late Lonnie and Viola (Efrid) Greene. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Aida (Romo) Greene, a grandson, Sean Kessans, sister, Hazel Surratt and brother, Bill Greene. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked for NASA's Vanguard Project. He retired as an electrician for Hess Electric. He enjoyed gardening and attending his great grandchildren's sporting events. Surviving are his children, Barbara Conner, Tell City, Patty Kessans (Marty), Mooresville, North Carolina, Jim Greene (Lou Ann), Oakland City, IN and Mike Greene (Sharon), Pine Village, IN; sisters, Betty Jean Burleson, Stanford, North Carolina and Debbie Lopez (Daniel), Mexico; brother, Floyd Greene (Becky), Albemarle, NC; five grandchildren, Jason and Chris Greene, Jordan Greene, Taylor and Dalton Kessans and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Paul Alvey will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
