Tell City, Indiana Charles E. Powers, 66, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 29, 1947, in Decatur, Illinois son of the late Oscar and Elsie (Brandel) Powers. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Ray, Bernard and Ed Powers and a sister, Ethel Mae and Margaret M. Powers. A Cannelton High School graduate, Charles was a U.S. Army veteran and was united in marriage on May 1, 1969, in Hawesville, Kentucky, to Carolyn Sue Knable. Charles had worked at Tell City Chair Company and at Kimball International. He had been a member of Indiana National Guard and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, camping and spending time with his grandkids. Charles was generous with many, even at the end of his life offering organ donation knowing that it would be helpful to others. Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn; sons; Gordon Powers, Chuck Russell, Anthony Evrard, and Ryan Evrard, all of Tell City; daughter, Candy Russell, Tell City; grandchildren, Terra, Tyler and Kaytlin Russell and Alex Powers and a great grandchild, Olivia Phillips. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #2939. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 9:00 AM until service time Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Cemetery.
