Charles Kellems

Tell City, Indiana - Charles H. "Hobie" Kellems, 78, passed away on October 10, 2020 in Evansville. He was born in Tell City on January 1, 1942, son of the late Charles B. and Sarah E. (Lawrence) Kellems. "Hobie" graduated from Troy High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Wanda L. (Weedman) on December 10, 1960, at Chestnut Grove Church. He retired as a boilermaker construction foreman and liked to tinker, make lighthouses, plant trees and go boating on the river. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Wanda L. Kellems, Tell City; children, Dodie Briggs, Portland, Oregon, Danny (Carol) Kellems and Dean Kellems, both of Tell City; grandchildren, Jacob Briggs, Hobart "Bart" Scales, Tyler Kellems and Jeremy Kellems; two great granddaughters and two more great grandchildren on the way; brothers and sisters, Betty Underhill (Darrell), Bristow, Minnie Jane Kellems, Indianapolis, Anna Mae Wyman (Doyle), Utah, Evelyn Kellems and Patsy Kellems, both of Indianapolis, Larry David Kellems, Tell City, Tom Kellems (Marsha), Tell City, Roy Kellems (Priscilla), Cloverport, Kentucky and Michael Kellems, Evansville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Imogene Jarvis and brothers, Richard and Glenward Allen Kellems. Funeral services will be held t 11:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton. Rev. Tim Dotson will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.
